LIGHTING

During my time at TCU, I decided to enhance my Interior Design curriculum by taking on a minor in Lighting for Visual Presentation.

This lighting minor provides a knowledge base many programs don’t offer, including an understanding how lighting affects the display of visual merchandise in interior environments, hands on light experience through theater courses, as well as a residential series.

In my first lighting course, I designed and constructed my own fully functional light fixture. Through hand sketches and half-scale models, I created a sconce to be located in the lobby of the Interior Design and Merchandising building at TCU.

In subsequent lighting classes, I worked with a team of five fellow students  to partner with a local Fort Worth Company and showcase their products in a compelling window display that met our required Pantone color [sangria] and merchandise category [home goods]. Collaborating with Target, we created an outdoor dining environment cozy enough to feel as if it were indoors through pillows, plush blankets, and accent lighting.
