An understanding of color and its role in interiors is an important skill to have as a designer. 

In order to enhance my understanding, I executed several color/ pattern studies the fall of my sophomore year focusing on counterchange, motifs in network, and distortion.

After this initial study, I was asked to create a light screen based off a pattern inspired by an organic object.  After a larger-than-life analysis of a pumpkin, I created several simplified patterns, chose one to become the form of my light screen, and constructed a light screen to be displayed in the lobby of the Interior Design and Merchandising building.
