FISCHER RESIDENCE

[Born to a German father and American mother, Barbara grew up in both Rio de Janiero and Miami, Florida. She moved to Berlin to study architecture where she met her first husband, Hans Mueller. They raised their daughter, Ingrid (49) in Berlin until Hans’ untimely death in 1990. At that time she moved back to Brazil and remarried. Divorced in 2010, Barbara decided to move to Miami where many of her friends live.

Barbara has a passion for the Bauhaus and street art. Her stepsons, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo are famous Brazilian Street artists. She currently works as a jewelry designer and loves the portability of her work since she loves to travel. Her most recent inspiration came through a trip to Kenya where she stayed with the Maasai. She loves color and has a great sense of humor. She wants her home to be fun and inviting].

Given the above client who has purchased her condo with the intention of staying there long term, I wanted to focus on an aging-in-place appropriate design as I created a high rise apartment to be located in Miami, Florida.

After initial space planning and hand drafting, I constructed the floorplan in AutoCAD. I then built two of the major spaces as well as the kitchen in SketchUp and rendered these perspectives in color studies and through Kerkythea. Once I had refined my design, I formally presented these renderings, plans, elevations, as well as an assembled material board to a panel of Architects and Designers from the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a final critique.
