HERITAGE PAVILION
My sophomore year I focused on conceptional work regarding family heritage and cultures. After researching my family history, I created a collage in Photoshop to tell my own heritage.
I was then challenged to create an architectural space to be placed within the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum that incorporates the fundamental theme I explored in my heritage collage: falling into place. When walking in and around the pavilion on the ground floor, spectators will be able to encounter solid masses of form rising towards the ceiling at various heights lacking any recognizable structure. However, overlooking the site from the second floor balcony, reveals the pavilion’s true form--a butterfly--suggesting that there is a bigger picture to the structure, and more so, life.
Through sketch models, creating my space in SketchUp, and rendering it in Kerkythea, I was able to solidify my design and articulate my solution to a panel at the end of the semester.
